Weekend away and cupcake report back

So in the end I opted to bake normal cupcakes but I just couldn’t stick to the recipe so a few changes took place – half brown and half white sugar, coffee instead of water and full cream yogurt instead of sour cream. The icing also got a dash of coffee and some milk and cream cheese along with the normal chocolate buttercream icing. It was such pretty little cupcakes – the icing had this beautiful gloss to it and it was really tasty.

I do think coffee in chocolate cake do bring out the flavours. It was a great hit at work and all 32 is finished!!

We camped in the Drakensberg this past weekend. Hubby was running Mont Aux Sources 50km trail run and we had to go. Now everybody in Johannesburg will know that it was exceptionally cold in Gauteng, this past weekend, and the Berg is normally even colder! Luckily not wet – just freezing.

I don’t do cold weather under the best of circumstances but to camp in weather like that was really a bit crazy. I suppose not as crazy as Hubby running in a short and a T-shirt for about 8km’s on the top of the Drakensberg in ankle deep snow! When he came down he was all smiles because that was fun!! Crazy, crazy!
