50 Shades of Grey

Well I finally gave in and read 50 shades of grey this weekend.  Let me tell you I grew up with Jackie Collins and Marilyn French AND that was proper mommy porn books with an actually story line as well.  Even Danielle Steel with her beyond beautiful people that is always good and wonderful could do a better story than the writer of 50 Shades.

I was 50 shades of boredom and about 50,000 shades of irritation and believe me not sexual irritation but irritation at the bad writing and the words that she used over and over and over again.  “Down there” made an appereance on almost every page and then the herione biting her lip and rolling her eyes on about every second page and let’s not forget the amazing beauty of Christian Grey.  Ohh vomit worthy I promise you.

And what I find worst is that this Christian Grey was basically molested by an older woman when he was a teenager and in this book there is nothing wrong with being molested. I find it completely wrong and it also made me wonder how badly our morals has been corrupted when a book like this can sell more than Harry Potter but it is full of pedophails (sp?), S&M etc.

I’ve battle the whole weekend to get through the first book of the trilogy but I don’t think I’m going to waste my time to read the other two.  I can’t waste precious time like that.  I’m sure you do wonder why I didn’t put the first book down if it irritated me so much.  Well I was starting to think that I’m missing something and I was waiting for that something to happen because surely millions of people can’t think this book is so wonderful.

Thanks for this revue, I too was starting to think that I should try this Trilogy as so much has been said and written about it.
Unfortunately I find that it is a sign of the times that we are living in that books such as this should be hailed as wonderful.
I have no need to read porn in any shape or form, no, I am not sticking my head in the sand, I know it is out there but I really have no need of it at all and never have had.
I refuse to adjust my principles for the sake of the “latest” so-called thrill.
    Love and hugs. xx

I’ve just started reading this and am about halfway – but ditto on the bad writing and bad storyline!! It’s truly irritating. Bella Swan and Edward Cullen much? LOL!

Thanks for the heads up! I was going to read it, now I won’t… seems like its all about the sex and not about a good story line and actual passion!

Guess I won’t be wasting any money on this title then

Was wondering what the big hub-bub was about this book! It’s making a killing all over the world!
Mind you, the Twilight series isn’t particularly well written (though the storyline is fairly entertaining) either and look how successful it is!

This trilogy was the biggest load of rubbish. The hype sold it, the author was abominable and I have slated it everywhere, It is time I cannot get back, The characters were annoying and unbelievable there was nothing charismatic and it annoys me that such rubbish gets into print, There are so many great authors about and this has shelf space. Not worth the time and I am happy to see reviews that mirror my own.
